This is one of the latest paintings I have completed in acrylic paint. This is the 2010 herd of Chincoteague Island's wild ponies. The size of this original is 6x18 inches,on a gallery wrap canvas, so no frame is needed. The original painting is available at Egret Moon Art Works, on Chincoteague Island, Virginia.

This years poster by Nancy Hogan Armour features Surfer Dude's 2010 foal of the wild herd of Chincoteague and Assateague Island's wild ponies. This print is available as a poster or a limited edition of only 375 signed and numbered prints. Every year on the last Wednesday in July, foals and yearlings from the fire company's herd, escorted by Chincoteague cowboys, swim the channel from Assateague to Chincoteague. On Thursday they are auctioned off, and those that are not sold will eventually swim back to Assateague. While pony penning on the islands can be traced back to the 17th century, the modern version was organized in 1924 by the fire company as a fund raiser This is the 25th annual Chincoteague Pony Swim Poster by Nancy Hogan Armour. The posters can be ordered online directly from Nancy. On Chincoteague Island they can be purchased from Egret Moon Works and also Enchanted Island Boutique.

I will be concentrating on doing some wildlife themed paintings for the next month.As you can see the house painting is not wildlife, but wait till its done.They will be taken to the Thanksgiving Wildlife Exhibit, on Chincoteague Island. I will not be present. Lynn of Enchanted Island represents me on Chincoteague, and she will be displaying and selling my originals and prints at the show. I have not painted wildlife in years and look forward to doing some paintings.It is hard to stay on task in the Caribbean, looking out at that ocean and always wanting to be in it.

The horse with no tail is finally done! Cannot decide if I am happy with it or not. Considering it has been since September since since I last painted, it will take me while to get back into it. I was On Chincoteague Island for the Plein Aire Event in September and painted all week. Painted through a noreaster on my friend Zebie's porch. I finished eight paintings in one week and sold five of those at the final exhibit.It was wonderful to be back on the eastern shore where my heart will always be. Had so much fun with my friends!

The horse with no tail. I am painting in stages, I will make sure I put the tail in tomorrow. I did have to fix the horizon line it was off a quarter of an inch on the left hand side. You will see the difference next posting, and the horse will have a tail, by then too!

Chincoteague Pony New Oil Painting...

in progress. This oil is of a Chincoteague Pony on the salt marshes of Assateague Island. I just started it and am going to show the progress as it continues. I start with a thin layer of oil paint to lay in the initial colors I am going to use.i started this yesterday and will work on it again shortly.

Assateague Island Beach Painting

This is a new painting I finished yesterday. The storm on Assateague beach. The beach erosion I saw over a span of 28 years was amazing. The winter storms did the damage. This is an oil and it is 6x18 inches, which is a great size for seascapes.

Shades of Purple Shorebird

It was time to change colors on my palette, It seems lately I was only painting in shades of blues. It is so amazing how much time I can devote to painting now that I am no longer working in my art gallery. Operating Island Gallery & Gifts on Chincoteague Island for 28 years,consumed most of my energy and time. Now I am painting almost daily now, it has been years since I have been able to do that.

Nightmist Legacy 2009 Chincoteague Island Pony Poster

The painting is done and the prints are on their way to Chincoteague Island! This painting is in remembrance of Nightmist, a direct descendant of Misty of Chincoteague. The stallion's hoof prints are set in the sidewalk next to Misty's outside the Island Roxy Theatre in Chincoteague and he returned regularly for the pony run that draws tens of thousands of people each year to the dune-covered Atlantic coast. This is the second Poster I have produced of Nightmist.
